UCI’S KUNTZ HONORED

UC Irvine’s George Kuntz, the Big West Conference Coach of the Year in men’s soccer after guiding the Anteaters to a 13-4-3 record, was named Far West Region Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Assn. of America at their recent convention in Indianapolis, Ind.

Kuntz, whose 12th UCI men’s team was ranked as high as No. 1 in Far West Region and No. 7 nationally, received the Far West Region Coach of the Year award twice previously during his tenure at Cal Lutheran.

LOCAL TRIATHLON COMING

Pacific Sports LLC and Kring & Chung will host the 29th annual Newport Beach Triathlon April 22.

The race will include a half-mile swim in the Back Bay, a 15-mile cycle course and a three-mile run course.

The race will be limited to 800 participants.
