PET OF THE WEEK

RAINY

Rainy is a petite, 3-year-old cat that resembles a Maine coon tabby, and has tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus.

The virus cannot be transmitted from cats to people. Cats with no symptoms of the virus can have a normal lifespan as long as they are kept indoors and not exposed to other cats. A high-protein diet with added vitamins, anti-oxidants and omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids is also recommended for cats with the virus.

Rainy can be seen from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday outside of Russo’s Pet Experience in Fashion Island.
