Stars shoot down Flyers

The Stars defense recorded a shutout and the offense mustered enough offense to score a 2-0 victory over the Flyers in a Norris Division match at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

Following a scoreless first quarter, Colin Reyes posted a second-quarter goal to give the Stars a 1-0 lead. They got an insurance goal from Trenton Shehan in the third quarter.

Kyler Scott got the shutout behind 17 saves.

Trevor Scott had 27 saves for the Flyers.

Dry Ice 8, Breakers 3

Dry Ice jumped out to a 3-0 first-quarter lead and led the entire way in defeating the Breakers.

Alex Buyan topped all scorers with four goals. Drew Truxaw and Alexander Gomez both scored twice. Truxaw also collected four assists and Buyan, Connor Cudeback and Alec Dahl each had an assist.

Blake Walker recorded 18 saves.

Nolan Strout, Connor Mellema and Ian Gibbons scored goals for the Breakers. Owen Osborne had two assists and Gibbons and Kyle Hoglund each were credited with assisting goals.

Jesse Mellema had 21 saves.

Lightning 6, Hot Shotz 5

Nicholas Thompson and Trent Sievers each scored twice as the Lightning edged the Hot Shotz.

Brett Rudy and Josh Valdez also scored, Jared Day and Weston Bechtold each scored and Alex McCabe had 17 saves.

Matthew Manning and Alec Lang both scored twice for the Hot Shotz. Ryan Lepore also scored and Thomas Wirth had 18 saves.

Kings 4, Bears 4

Casey Rhodes of the Kings and Aaron Maccabi of the Bears both scored in an overtime shootout and the teams fought to a tie.

It was the third of three goals scored by Rhodes. Jake Shaylor had a goal and assist, Cooper Haar picked up two assists and Ethan Higbee had 15 saves for the Kings.

Maccabi finished with two goals and an assist for the Bears. Colin Brecher had a goal and assist and Jeff Klimczak scored a goal.
