Hawks muster late surge to post big win

The Hawks scored five of their six goals over the final two quarters to pull away from Who Cares and post a 6-3 Howe Division victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

Evan Hess’ two goals paced the Hawks offense. Jake Rennison, Joshua Gruwell, Steven Landis and Sean Kitchen also scored goals, Dylan Rodriguez and Manny Banuelos each had two assists and Rennison and Cameron Ciantar also had an assist.

Brad Giczewski finished with 18 saves.

Aaron Wong scored both goals for Who Cares, the second off an assist from Brett Biederman.

Dylan Moan had 20 saves.

Meatballs 5, Bullfrogs 3

Kristian Burkhardt scored the second of his two goals in the third quarter to give the Meatballs some breathing room in an eventual two-goal victory.

Burkhardt also scored the second goal of the match for the Meatballs, who took a 3-2 lead after the first quarter.

Daniel Burkhardt scored twice in the opening quarter and also finished with two goals. Ethan Loy scored once with an assist and Ethan Higbee and Austin Arcala each had assists.

Kevin Baumann scored twice to lead the Bulldogs on offense. Zack McDaniel scored once, Alex Willingham and Matthew Bozanich each had an assist and Jessica Baltazar had 28 saves.

Kings 6, TnT 3

A quick start led to a 3-0 lead as the Kings turned back TnT.

Jeremy Corwin scored two goals and Auston Leming, Travis Bertrand, Matt Schnautz and Andrew Medrano all scored once.

Auston Leming also had an assist and Andrew Leming had two assists.

Garrett Blackwell scored once with an assist and Cody Sizemore and Marcus Kurth both scored once for TnT.

Jack Miller had 27 saves.
