WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Vanguard 95, Concordia 60COSTA MESA — Junior Jessica Richter had 22 points and six steals, as the NAIA No. 1-ranked Lions cruised to a Golden State Athletic Conference victory Tuesday at Vanguard.

Lacey Burns had 17 points and five three-pointers for Vanguard (19-0, 14-0 in conference), which won its 52nd consecutive regular-season game and 40th straight GSAC game.

Rachel Besse had 15 points and four blocks for the Lions, who shot 52.2% from the field while holding Concordia (10-12, 5-9) to 36.2%.

Vanguard plays at Westmont on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Orange Coast 6, Cerritos 3COSTA MESA — Jaleh Mazaheri led the defending state champion Pirates to a victory in their season opener Tuesday by picking up wins in singles and doubles play.

Mazaheri swept each of her games in singles. Evelyn Wallace and KD Doran each picked up wins in singles and together won in doubles for OCC.

MEN’S TENNIS

Orange Coast 9, Marymount 0RANCHO PALOS VERDES — The Pirates dropped just two games in singles to improve to 2-0.

Jon Kroopf, Andy Ong, David Stacy and Art Modyman each swept in singles without dropping a game.
