Costa Mesa police arrested a man Saturday morning whom they suspected of trying to run down officers at an apartment complex the night before.

According to Lt. Dale Birney, police arrested Jeremy Wade Pue, 29, at around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday during a traffic stop near Bristol Street and Paularino Avenue. He was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and held at Costa Mesa Jail.

On Friday, Birney said, the manager of an apartment complex at 635 Baker St. called police and reported an unidentified man sleeping in his vehicle in one of the car ports. Officers arrived and asked the man to roll down his window, at which point he accelerated forward and apparently tried to run down the officers in front of his car.

Birney said Pue did not live in the apartment complex and that his last-known residence was in Folsom.
