Blue Diamonds sparkle in victory

The Blue Diamonds led all the way in their Smythe Division match with the Renegades and went on to post a 7-1 victory Monday at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

Paul Wirth scored three of the Blue Diamonds’ seven goals and Austin Salisbury scored twice. Lukas Welinder and Nicholas Ashworth also scored.

Conner Reeves topped the team in assists with two and Welinder and Spencer Reeves each had one.

Austin Mellema scored on an assist from Stuart Urbano and Sam Prizler had 20 saves for the Renegades.

In other Smythe Division action:

Diablos 5, Terminators 3

The Diablos outscored the Terminators 3-1 in the final quarter to get the win.

The Diablos’ scoring consisted of two goals from Austin Koss and one each from Karson Derego, Matthew Chism and Corey Childers, who also had two assists. Single assists went to Gabrielle Dibb and goalie Jake Rannison, who had 18 saves.

Keane Wong scored once and assisted on the other two Terminator goals, which were scored by Michael Kramer and David Wellander. Derin Ozturk also had an assist and Craig Wellander finished with 20 saves.

Diablos 5, Rattlers 2

The Diablos collected their second win of the night and — as was the case in their win over the Terminators — never trailed against the Rattlers.

Evan Gray led the scoring with three goals. Austin Koss and Brent Lindstrom netted the other two Diablos goals and Corey Childers and Andrew Schenker each had an assist.

Hector Tepayotl and James Shramek scored for the Rattlers and Jake Grothjan had 19 saves.
