CIF Masters MeetRIALTO — Newport Harbor High senior Brian Beaudette (heavyweight division) and junior Josh George (135-pound division) qualified Friday for second-round consolation action, which starts today at Carter High.

Both will now need to win three matches to guarantee one of the eight spots required for the state championships.

Beaudette (29-10) opened his day with a pin in three minutes, 20 seconds on Long Beach Wilson’s Elliott Quesada. He then lost to Hesperia’s Ryan Hoover, the defending champion, by a technical fall, 18-3.

George (29-11) lost to Cajon’s Jesse Moreno in the first round, 15-6. But George received a bye in the first round of consolation and continues today againstTemecula Valley’s Patrick Martinez.
