Like their baseball counterparts, the prep softball teams begin the 2007 season this weekend. Below is a capsule look at the locals:

Outlook: “This year’s team is built around a true love and passion for the game of softball,” Tarrant said. “The chemistry between the girls is truly a rare experience. On the field this year we will be strong both defensively and offensively, as we have 10 returning players. Also, our ‘newbies’ bring with them great skills and a strong desire to learn. League: Golden West Head coach: Randy Cruz (3rd) Coaching staff: Mike Mc Laughlan 2006 overall record: 15-6 2006 league finish: 9-3 CIF results: lost first-round to Ventura Returning starters: Sandy Carroll, SS, all-league, Sr.; Stacy Ridgway, 1B, Sr.; Nichole Adams, 3B, Jr.; Nikole Afusia, C, all-league, Jr.; Daae Cantu, P, all-league, Jr.; Brooke Hitchcock, CF, Soph.
