Youth hoops league registration continues
Basketball League registration for local girls in grades K-through-8 currently is being accepted at the at the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach main branch through today.
The league gives girls the opportunity learn the skills of basketball and enhance their self esteem while having a great time being part of a team. Weekly one-hour practices begin March 26. Games will run April 16 through June 10.
Volunteer opportunities are available for parents interested in coaching teams. Hans Laroche, Boys & Girls Club athletic director, heads the successful program.
All participants must be members of the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach. Membership fee is $140 per year. Scholarships are available for qualifying families. League fee is $85.00 per player and includes a new team uniform. Late fee applies for youth who register after the March 2 cutoff date.
Annual sponsorship opportunities which support Boys & Girls Club athletic activities are available for just $300.

City tennis tournament to hold 50th event
The Laguna Beach Tennis Tournament will celebrate its 50th year of competition with tournament play set for the weekends of April 21-22 and 28-29. Events include men’s and women’s singles, doubles and mixed 2.0 through Open play. A Youth/Experience doubles event that will pair a young player with an adult, also will be held.
