Newport Beach resident Lindsay Norman, a freshman at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, placed in the top 5% of her class and was included on the honor roll for the 2006 fall semester.

Long-time Corona del Mar resident Gerald Cullen retired on Feb. 28 after 22 years as a senior ophthalmologist with the UCLA Mobile Eye Clinic.

Cullen can be found most mornings at the Newport Beach Athletic Club talking sports, politics and medicine.

Cullen intends to treat his family — Philomena, his wife of 40 years, their three sons and two grandchildren — to a vacation in Hawaii as his way of showing appreciation for their support over the years.
