Dining center offers hot and cold lunches

Seniors may enjoy a hot or cold nutritional meal, meet new friends or bring their own group for lunch at the Laguna Beach Senior Center.

Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the center, 384 Legion St., Laguna Beach.

A donation of $3.50 is requested, but no one is turned away for inability to pay.

Center will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

The Laguna Beach Senior Center will hold its general membership meeting at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the center, 384 Legion St., Laguna Beach.

The St. Patrick’s Day-themed event will feature the Lucky Shamrock Travelin’ Game Show, hosted by Christine Foster. Foster has been entertaining seniors for more than seven years with recreations of favorite game shows like “Jeopardy,” “Wheel of Fortune,” “Family Feud” and more.

The event will feature an update on the senior center project, prizes and refreshments.

Preparedness for homebound seniors

As part of the city’s disaster preparedness efforts, the City of Laguna Beach, Senior Services and Laguna Beach Police Department are preparing a database of residents who may need assistance in case of an emergency, disaster or evacuation.

AARP driver safety program offered

The Laguna Beach Senior Center is offering the AARP eight-hour classroom refresher course especially designed for drivers aged 50 and over.

The course will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 10 and 11, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Senior Center, 384 Legion St., Laguna Beach.

Those completing the class may be eligible for auto insurance discounts.

The cost is $10 per person, and checks should be made payable to AARP.

Payment and sign-ups must be received at least one week prior to class start date.

Stretch, strengthen for older adults

The City of Laguna Beach Senior Services and Irvine Valley College Emeritus program are offering a new class, “Stretch and Strengthen for Older Adults.”

The free class, taught by C. Davies, includes instruction and practice of gentle stretching movements, strengthening, deep breathing and relaxation techniques.

The class will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. beginning March 19 and ending May 16 at the Laguna Beach Senior Center.
