Those wishing to paint the town green will have plenty of chances Saturday, as pubs and bars throughout Huntington Beach are serving up Irish food, entertainment and alcohol to mark the occasion.

  • Sons and daughters of Erin who want to make an early start of the festivities can show up at 8 a.m. for an Irish Breakfast at Gallagher’s Pub & Grill at 300 Pacific Coast Highway.
  • Patrons can chow down on fish and chips, corned beef and cabbage, bangers and mash and a selection of beer and ale. Irish-American band The American Wake will perform from noon till closing time, and special T-shirts for the event will be on sale.

  • Fitzgerald’s Sports Pub, 19171 Magnolia St., will start serving corned beef and cabbage at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day. Irish band Gypsy’s Kiss is scheduled to perform.
  • O’Connell’s Sports Pub and Grille, 19047 Bushard St., will offer breakfast till noon, corned beef sandwiches and specials on Irish beers.
  • Those looking for an alternative way to celebrate the Emerald Isle can watch “The Cripple of Inishmaan” at the Golden West College Theater. The play is a dark comedy — intended for mature audiences — about a young Irish boy in 1934 who dreams of starring in a Hollywood movie being filmed on a nearby island. The Saturday performance is at 8 p.m., at 15744 Golden West St., Huntington Beach. For tickets and information, call (714) 895-8150.
