CITY FOCUS:Two cottages relocated

Two of the four Third Street cottages reprieved from demolition by the council were relocated Wednesday night to temporary storage at Big Bend in Laguna Canyon.

The surveyor’s cottage at 368 Third St., closest to the Laguna Beach Community Clinic and its next door neighbor at 374 made the trip with no discernible damage, Community Services Director Susan Cannan said.

“It went very quietly, very smoothly,” she said.

About a half-dozen spectators gathered on Third Street to see the cottages begin the trip to the canyon.

The other two cottages slated for relocation are scheduled to be moved at the end of next week or the beginning of the last week in March.

“We are still trying to work out the details for the relocation of the cottage at 390 Third St. to Fullerton,” Cannan said.

Demolition or removal of the cottages must be completed before ground can be broken for the Community Senior Center project. A groundbreaking ceremony is schedule for April 3, prior to the City Council meeting.
