Man accused of groping woman at nightclub

A Santa Ana man was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of false imprisonment after a woman he was dancing with at Sutra Lounge put him under citizen’s arrest, Costa Mesa Police Lt. Dale Birney said.

Michael Fion, 44, was being held at Costa Mesa Jail on Saturday afternoon on $100,000 bail after he reportedly groped a woman at the Costa Mesa nightclub before 1:20 a.m.

The two were dancing at the club when he allegedly began to grope her — it was unclear Saturday afternoon if he is suspected of groping her outside the clothes or underneath, Birney said.

When police arrived, Fion attempted to walk away, but the woman placed him under citizen’s arrest.

A false imprisonment charge means that a person prevents someone else from free movement, Birney said.

Man allegedly assaults restroom attendant

A Santa Ana man was released from Costa Mesa Jail on Saturday after he was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor assault and battery at Club Vegas in Costa Mesa, police said.

Robert Gamboa, 45, was arrested early Saturday after he allegedly assaulted a bathroom attendant at the Costa Mesa nightclub, Lt. Dale Birney said.

The bathroom attendant was shutting down the bathrooms near closing time at 1:30 a.m. when Gamboa allegedly hit the attendant in the face.
