Corona del Mar 3, Beckman 2IRVINE — Vinnie St. John went three for four and delivered a two-out, game-winning RBI double in the seventh to lead the visiting Sea Kings to a Pacific Coast League-opening win Wednesday.
Gavin Juarez scored the winning run. He reached on a one-out single, moved to second after a Jon Doering sacrifice, and crossed the plate after St. John’s double.
Jake Lemmerman hit his second home run of the season, a solo shot in the third inning for the Sea Kings (6-2, 1-0 in league), who have won six straight. Austin Elliott pitched the seventh and worked out of a bases-loaded jam by inducing a groundout to pick up his first save of the season.
The Patriots dropped to 4-5, 0-1.

Estancia 12, Santa Ana Valley 3Estancia 15, Santa Ana Valley 13SANTA ANA — Junior Taylor West hit two home runs in the second game, including a two-run game-winning blast in the seventh inning, to lift the Eagles to a doubleheader sweep Wednesday at Santa Ana Valley.
Estancia (6-4) scored eight runs in the first inning of the second game, but had to come from behind in the final frame for the win. West had five RBIs, Courtney Ulrich, Abby Koff and Taylor Brown all had doubles, and freshman Amy Hartwell picked up her first win of the season.
In the first game, senior Josie Flores had a no-hitter through five innings as Estancia cruised in a six-inning game. West had a double and senior Lina You (three for four) had a triple and two RBIs. Brown was two for three with three runs scored.
Estancia plays today at Saddleback.

Andrew Skjonsby shot two-over 38, while Dan Darnell, Bryce Greeley and Dyllin Shane came in at three-over 39 for Newport Harbor (5-4), which plays today against Edison at Seacliff Country Club.
Estancia 204, Ocean View 213FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Andrew Ayala shot two-over-par 38 to earn medalist honors and lead the Eagles to the nonleague win at Miles Square Golf Club Wednesday.
Drew Bertoni and Ryan Knapp shot 40s, while Pat Flannery and Storm Hagen carded 43s for Estancia (8-2, 4-0 in league),which plays in the Long Beach Millikan Tournament on Monday at El Dorado Park Golf Course.
GIRLS’ SWIMMING
Corona del Mar 97, Beckman 73CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Britney Wigley won the 200 and 500-yard freestyles in the Sea Kings’ Pacific Coast League-opening win on Wednesday.
Senior Chelsea Pike won the 50 free in 25.31 seconds and was second in the 100 free (54.50) for CdM; both times are CIF Division I automatic times. Sophomore Elise Molnar won the 100 breaststroke in a personal-best time of 1 minute, 12.98 seconds for the Sea Kings (2-0).
CdM is still missing top swimmers Stephanie Gabert (knee), Sarah Furgatch and Kelsey Larson (Junior Nationals), but Coach Doug Volding said he hopes to have a full team next Wednesday at Laguna Hills.
The Sea Kings are in the CIF Relays preliminaries today at Belmont Plaza.

BOYS LACROSSE
Los Alamitos 8,LOS ALAMITOS — Glen Christiansen and Starnes Arnold scored two goals each for the Sailors in their Sunset League loss Wednesday.
Newport Harbor 7 (3 OT)
Eric Dobson contributed one goal and three assists, while goalie Ronnie Dunmore recorded 16 saves for Newport Harbor (3-3, 2-1 in league), which lost its first of three games that have gone into overtime this season.
