COSTA MESA — Junior center fielder Taylor West continued her recent offensive tear to lead the Eagles in two nonleague home games Saturday. Both were shortened to six innings, due to the 10-run mercy rule.

West went two for two with six RBIs, including a double against Santiago, after going three for four with two RBIs, including a double and her fourth homer of the week.

Senior pitcher Josie Flores earned the win in both games. She threw a complete-game three-hitter, striking out five against La Quinta.

Taylor Brown and Abby Koff each had three hits against La Quinta.

Estancia is now 8-5.

Surf City Invitational

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Newport Harbor High senior Jessica Robson won the high jump (5-feet, 6 inches), tied for first in the long jump (17-10) and was second in the 100-meter hurdles (15.97 seconds) to lead the Sailors Saturday at Huntington Beach High.

Junior Cassidy Gayner won the 300 hurdles for the Sailors with a personal-best 46:55, while senior Allison Stokke won the pole vault with a season-best clearance of 13-1.

Senior Laura Clayton was second in the triple jump (36-2 1/2 ) and sixth in the long jump (16-2).

Newport Harbor’s Melissa Hancock won the freshman high jump competition with a personal-best of 5-2. It also tied the meet record.

Arroyo Distance Carnival

AZUSA — Newport Harbor High’s Taylor Bryson was fifth and teammate Melissa Mead eighth in the invitational 1,600 meters at Azusa Pacific University.

Sophomore Erica Pearson was sixth in the invitational 800 in 2:23.70.

In the 3,200 invitational, Mead (eighth in 11:06.93), Desiree Alexander (12th in 11:19.31) and Sophia Ditty (15th in 11:26.26) all ran personal-best times.

In non-invitational heats, Lauren Maddox finished second (2:23.76) 800, while freshman Kasey DeYoung won her heat in 2:33.72).

Alexander was first in her 1,600 heat (5:20.92) and Ditty was second in the same heat (5:21.92).

Pearson won her 1,600 non-invitational heat in 5:24.40.

BOYS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Surf City Invitational

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Newport Harbor High juniors Rex Nelson and Murphy Hitchcock were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 800 meters.

Nelson finished in 2:01.01, just ahead of Hitchcock (2:00.5).
