WOMEN’S GOLF

The Anteater InvitationalIRVINE — UC Irvine won the event by 30 shots and UCI junior Selaneé Henderson won her second consecutive tournament at the Dove Canyon Country Club Tuesday.

The Anteaters won the tournament with a 54-hole total of 909 (299-298-312), ahead of San Jose State (939) and Mississippi (948).

Henderson, a junior, earned medalist honors after shooting a 216 (69-72-75). She was the only golfer to post a score under par of the first 36 holes (141), including a tournament low 69 on the first round.

WOMEN’S WATER POLO

UC Irvine 8, UC Davis 7, OTIRVINE -- Nikki Frish scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime to lead the sixth-ranked Anteaters past No. 7 UC Davis in a nonconference match Tuesday.

Frish scored her second goal of the match as the clock hit zero in the first overtime. Her shot from eight meters out deflected off the keeper to give UCI (14-7) an 8-7 lead. Neither team scored in the second overtime period.

Vanguard 4,PLNU 4, Vanguard 1COSTA MESA — Rachel Bomgren went two for three with a home run in the Lions’ win in the first game, but Vanguard, ranked No. 11 in the NAIA, suffered its first Golden State Athletic Conference loss to No. 5-ranked PLNU in the nightcap Tuesday.

The Lions’ Jennifer Olvera struck out 10 and walked one with four hits in her victory.

BASEBALL

UNLV 11, UC Irvine 6LAS VEGAS — The Anteaters committed a season-high four errors and the Runnin’ Rebels erased a five-run deficit to upset No. 24 UCI Tuesday.

The loss snapped a seven-game win streak for the Anteaters (19-6-1).

UCI’s Cody Cipriano hit a three-run home run and finished two for four with four RBIs. Ben Orloff was three for four.
