POLICE FILES - March 30, 2007

The following is from the daily log of the Laguna Beach Police Department from Wednesday, March 21, through Tuesday, March 27.

TUESDAY

No. Coast Highway: At 4:49 a.m., a fire was reported in a trash can outside a coffee shop in the 100 block.

Cress Street: At 5:36 a.m., a dumpster fire was reported in the 100 block.

Anita Street: At 5:53 p.m., a trash can was reported set on fire at So. Coast Highway.

Canyon View Drive: At 9:06 a.m., a yard and garage were flooded when a water main broke in the 1000 block.

So. Coast Highway: At 9:37 a.m., three juvenile girls were detained and released to their parents, and one was cited, after a bottle of whiskey was found in the car following a traffic stop after a report that they were driving erratically and had hit a wall at Ruby Street.

Glenneyre Street: At 2:29 p.m., a laptop computer was reported stolen from a rental car over night in the 300 block.

Ann’s Lane: At 2:54 p.m., a tree was reported to have come down in high wind and struck a power pole, resulting in the power being shut off, in the 2100 block.

Cozumel Court: At 3:31 p.m., a burglary was reported over the past two days in the 200 block.

Coast Highway: At 6:58 p.m., a Santa Ana man was arrested on suspicion of DUI at Wesley Drive.

Broadway: At 11:11 p.m., a homeless man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication in the 200 block.

No. Coast Highway: At 3:46 a.m., a stack of newspapers was reported set on fire, and the fire put out by officers, in the 200 block.

Forest Avenue: At 2:54 a.m., a Laguna Beach man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication in the 300 block.

Park Avenue: At 2:29 a.m., a Laguna Niguel man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication in the 200 block.

Beach Street: At 2:01 a.m., a homeless man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication at Broadway.

MONDAY

Broadway: At 9:46 p.m., a homeless man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication in the 300 block.

West Street: At 10:07 p.m., a Laguna Beach man was arrested on suspicion of DUI at Coast Highway.

Coast Highway: At 7:44 p.m., two purses and an Ipod were reported stolen from a vehicle in the parking at a hotel in the 30000 block.

So. Coast Highway: At 9:09 a.m., a purse was reported stolen from a hotel room in the 1400 block.

SUNDAY

Coast Highway: At 2:04 a.m., a Laguna Niguel woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI in the 30000 block.

Main Beach: At 3:06 a.m. a Hemet woman was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication in the 300 block.

Shaws Cove: At 8:17 a.m., two fishermen were cited on suspicion of poaching bivalves and using them as bait in the 1000 block of the beach.

Legion Street: At 1:38 p.m., a Santa Ana man was arrested on suspicion of drug possession after a traffic stop at So. Coast Highway.

Balboa Avenue: At 1:41 p.m., goats were reported to be on the verge of escape because a gate was down at Moulton Meadows Park in the 2900 block.

Marine Drive: At 2:09 p.m., police were summoned to break up a bird fight after a pigeon was reported injured. The pigeon was described as “being 415 [fighting] with several crows.” The report went on to state that “all birds are Code 4 [no further assistance needed] and separated” near Cliff Drive.

No. Coast Highway: At 4:01 p.m., a motorcyclist was given medical aid after going down in the 200 block.

So. Coast Highway: At 5:03 p.m., a man was ejected from a hotel lobby after he allegedly displayed a gun in his belt after allegedly fighting with an employee in the 1500 block.

Coast Highway: At 7:34 p.m., a Corona del Mar man was arrested on suspicion of DUI at Crescent Bay Drive.

Glenneyre Street: At 11:20 p.m., a trash can and barbecue fire was responded to by firefighters and medical aid was given in the 1200 block.

SATURDAY

Glenneyre Street: At 2:42 a.m., a transient Laguna Beach man was cited on suspicion of public intoxication in the 400 block.

San Nicholas Court: At 1:40 a.m., a child was reported to have been burned on the face by a parent in the 600 block.

Coast Highway: At 7:34 p.m., a Corona del Mar man was arrested on suspicion of DUI at Crescent Bay Drive.

FRIDAY

Laguna Canyon Road: At 11:08 p.m., a Laguna Beach woman was arrested at Myrtle Street and Cliff Drive on suspicion of DUI after being followed due to erratic driving in the 2800 block.

Temple Hills Drive: At 8:06 p.m., a small rock slide was reported to be blocking one side of the road after an alleged hit-and-run traffic collision in the 900 block.

So. Coast Highway: At 8:48 a.m., a Laguna Beach man was cited for shoplifting after he allegedly stole a bottle of Visine at a grocery store in the 700 block.

Coast Highway: At 2:01 a.m., a man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon at a hospital in the 31000 block.

THURSDAY

Thalia Street: At 7:44 p.m., an injured person was taken to South Coast Medical Center after a traffic collision at Coast Highway.

So. Coast Highway: At 11:11 a.m., a car was reported keyed in the 400 block.

So. Coast Highway: At 3:06 a.m., a Huntington Beach man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after his vehicle struck a parking meter in the 500 block.

WEDNESDAY

So. Coast Highway: At 11:34 p.m., a man was cited for allegedly smoking marijuana in the 3000 block.

Morningside Drive: At 12:58 p.m., a window was reported smashed and property taken from a vehicle in the 1400 block.

No. Coast Highway: At 11:55 p.m., a door was reported damaged in an attempted break-in at an art gallery in the 300 block.

So. Coast Highway: At 3:13 a.m., a homeless man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication in the 1100 block.
