Laguna Beach police arrested two adults and a juvenile on suspicion of selling marijuana in separate incidents late Tuesday and early Wednesday, Sgt. Darin Lenyi said.

Two men were spotted driving the wrong way on Monterey Street on March 27 at 11:25 p.m., and when stopped, the officer noticed a detectable odor of marijuana, Lenyi said.

The vehicle was searched and approximately 10 pounds of marijuana was discovered in a duffle bag in the cargo area of the vehicle, a Ford Focus.

The approximate street value of the marijuana was $40,000.

The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale, a felony. Both were booked at the Laguna Beach jail.

The two arrestees are Alexander Pike, 35, of Newport Beach, the driver, and Andrew Roth, 32, of West Hills.

Second arrest

Early Wednesday, detectives posing as marijuana customers arrested a 17-year-old Laguna Beach boy after conducting an undercover operation in the parking lot of a convenience store on the 800 block of Glenneyre Street.

An undercover detective met with the youth, whose identity was withheld due to his age, and allegedly purchased less than one ounce of marijuana for $180.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident. More marijuana, under one ounce, was allegedly discovered on the suspect during a search after his arrest.

The suspect was booked at the city jail on suspicion of selling marijuana and transported to the Orange County Juvenile Hall.

During the operation, detectives discovered two boys in the area who were believed to be associated with the suspect. Both of these juveniles were detained for curfew violation, taken to police headquarters and released to their parents.

One was a 14-year-old from Laguna Beach and the other, 17 years old, was from Mission Viejo. Their identities were not released because of their ages.
