If you’re a budding wine connoisseur (or just a big fan of wine), sign-up for UCI Extension wine classes, the only university-level wine study program in Orange County.

Two great teachers teach the fun and informative classes: Edward Manetta, a certified sommelier and owner of the Reserve Wine Bar and Shop in Ladera Ranch; and Peter Brown, an award-winning instructor and wine-and-food-pairing specialist. Each series is packed with valuable wine information: How to evaluate and describe wine, the differences between old and new world wines, wine and food pairing, and the invaluable — how to impress your friends with your wine knowledge. Manetta teaches Fundamentals of Wines starting April 2 to May 7 (six meetings from 7 to 10 p.m. for $290); and Brown teaches Wines of Americas starting April 5 to April 26 (four meetings from 7 to 10 p.m. for $250). In Fundamentals of Wines, you’ll learn how to understand labels, the differences in grapes, and wine regions throughout the world, and much more.
