CHISHOLM MOVES ON

Torre Chisholm, the associate athletic director for development and marketing at UC Irvine since 2000, will leave the school to become athletic director at Portland State, Portland State announced Thursday.

While at Irvine, Chisholm increased fundraising by 200% and sponsorships by 150%. He helped secure major gifts that led to the construction of a Sports Medicine Center and the newly opened Newkirk Pavilion at Anteater Ballpark, which includes a team clubhouse and coaches’ offices.

“I’m thrilled and honored to be joining Portland State athletics,” Chisolm said in a statement.

‘EATERS HONORED

IRVINE — UC Irvine senior Ricky Barnes and freshman Alisha Misiata have been named Big West Conference Athletes of the Week in track and field.

Barnes received the male track honor based on his performance at last weekend’s Collegiate Classic at Anteater Stadium. He won the 800 meters with a time of 1 minute, 52.76 seconds and finished second in the 1500 in 3:46.91. His 1500 time is an NCAA regional qualifying mark while his 800 time is a qualifier for the Big West Conference Championships.

Misiata earned the female field award as she won the shot put at the Collegiate Classic with an NCAA regional-qualifying mark of 47 feet, 6 1/4 inches, which was an improvement on her No. 2 mark in UCI history. She placed fifth in the discus throw (146-9) and sixth in the hammer throw (146-2).

The Anteaters will compete at the 33rd annual Stanford Invitational today and Saturday.
