The hotel was built in 1984 and was renovated 10 years ago, but Makar plans to fully renovate the hotel. The company will renovate all guestrooms, ballrooms, meeting rooms and other public areas.

“We are excited about the acquisition and upcoming renovation of the Hilton Anaheim Hotel,” Makar President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Makarechian said in a news release. “The property is already a landmark in Orange County as a popular business and leisure destination. Updating the property will elevate the hotel to a new level of quality and sophistication so that it can compete more effectively with other nationally-recognized conference and convention hotels.”

Makar Properties is a real estate development company that acquires and develops communities, resorts, golf, office and residential properties. It has $1 billion in assets, according to the news release.

The company was responsible for developing the St. Regis, Monarch Beach hotel, which it considers its “landmark” development.
