Corona del Mar 17, Irvine 1CORONA DEL MAR — The tandem of senior Josh Kim and junior Bryan Buchert stormed back from down 2-5 to win their doubles set 7-5 and help the Sea Kings to the Pacific Coast League victory Tuesday.

Freshman Ryan Peyton and junior Brent Pham each won twice by 6-0 and once 6-1. Corona del Mar, the No. 4-ranked team in CIF Southern Section Division I, improved to 10-1, 3-0 in league.

Esperanza 10, Newport Harbor 8NEWPORT BEACH — Senior Jake Fleming won two of his three singles sets, but the Sailors dropped the Sunset League match Tuesday.

The duo of freshman Connor Curry and sophomore Daron Arnold as well as juniors McKenna Duley and Taylor Friend won two of their doubles sets.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Corona del Mar def. IrvineCORONA DEL MAR — Jeff Carlson and Gus Ellis had six kills each to lead the Sea Kings to a 25-13, 25-15, 25-21 Pacific Coast League win Tuesday.

Carlson also had six digs, while Ellis added four blocks. Blaine Nielsen contributed four kills and two digs, and Spencer Brown had eight digs, two kills and two aces for CdM (19-1, 3-0 in league).

Laguna Beach def. EstanciaLAGUNA BEACH — The Breakers won the Orange Coast League match, 25-13, 25-9, 25-12 Tuesday.

Freshman Kyle Prevel led the Eagles (3-10, 0-2 in league) with six kills and seven digs. Junior Barry Fryslie added six assists.

BOYS’ GOLF

Estancia 194, Orange 237COSTA MESA — Pat Flannery shot even-par 36 to help lead the Eagles to the Orange Coast League win at Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club’s Mesa Linda course Tuesday.

Andrew Ayala (38), Storm Higgins (39), John Person (40), Kyle Jones (41) also contributed to the win for Estancia (10-3, 7-0 in league).

Newport Harbor 200,NEWPORT BEACH — All five Sailors’ scorers were separated by only four strokes in the Sunset League victory Tuesday at Big Canyon Country Club’s par-36 course.

Bryce Greeley (38), Andrew Skjonsby (39), Dan Darnell (40), Steve Stoneman (41) and Chase Bear (42) scored for the Sailors (10-4, 4-0).

Newport Beach 10, Beckman 10IRVINE — The Sailors scored four unanswered goals in the last five minutes for the tie Tuesday.

Leighanne Thomson and Shannon Rohan had three goals a piece. Elizabeth Cramer had two goals. Goalkeeper Sarah Hammarlund had 10 saves for the Sailors (3-3-2).
