Corona del Mar 12,CORONA DEL MAR — Sophomore Parker Rhodes and freshman Charlie Corum swept three sets at No. 1 doubles for the Sea Kings in a nonleague win Wednesday at Corona del Mar.

Seniors Dustin Hladek and Ryan Caughren, at No. 2 doubles, also won three sets for CdM (12-1), which is ranked No. 4 in CIF Southern Section Division I. The Sea Kings resume Pacific Coast League play today at Irvine.

CdM’s match at University, postponed on March 27 due to high winds, has been rescheduled for April 24.

Corona del Mar 96, Irvine 74 (boys)CORONA DEL MAR — The Sea Kings’ 200-yard medley relay team of Allison Peotter, Kelsey Larson, Chelsea Pike and Heather Van Hiel recorded a time of 1 minute, 53.31 seconds, an automatic CIF Southern Section Division I qualifying mark, during Wednesday’s Pacific Coast League meet.

Sarah Furgatch won the 200 (1:57.61) and 500 (5:11.75) freestyle events, helping CdM (4-0, 3-0 in league), ranked sixth in Division I, remain unbeaten.

For the CdM boys, senior Brian Peotter won the 50 free (21.87 seconds) and the 100 free (48.44), with the two times being Division I automatic and consideration times, respectively.

Yutaro Yamashita won the 200 IM (2:01.46) and the 500 free (4:52.25), both of which are Division I consideration times.

The Sea Kings teams combined to win all six relays.

The Sea Kings on April 18 will be competing for the league’s top spot at University, which is also undefeated in league.

For the Newport Harbor boys, senior Max Joseph won the 200-yard individual medley and 100 butterfly. Junior Clinton Jorth won the 200 freestyle in 1:43.97, a CIF Division I automatic time, and sophomore Zach Osadche won the 100 backstroke.

On the girls’ side, Sailors senior Kayley Oka won both the 200 IM (2:15.61) and the 100 fly (1:00.54). Both times are Division I consideration times.

Junior Jessica Robinson was the only other girls’ event winner for Newport, taking the 500 freestyle in 5:25.69.
