MEN’S TENNIS

UC Irvine 7, UC Riverside 0RIVERSIDE — The Anteaters won all six singles matches and three doubles matches, easily taking a Big West Conference match Saturday at UC Riverside.

Seniors Aaron Yovan and Mustafa Ulukan, along with sophomore Trevor Dobson and freshman Zac Tsai, each won in straight sets for UCI (9-9, 2-0 in conference), while junior Victor Lamm and sophomore Shimpei Suzuki battled for three-set singles wins.

MEN’S CREW

Regatta of Orange Coast, UC Irvine, Long Beach StateNEWPORT BEACH — Orange Coast College won the varsity eight race, one of four victories for the Pirates on Lido Isle Saturday.

OCC came in first in 6 minutes, 11.8 seconds, while UC Irvine followed in 6:12.5. The Pirates also won the novice four in 7:35.3, novice eight in 6:10.3 and junior varsity eight in 6:24.7.

WOMEN’S WATER POLO

San Jose State 7, UC Irvine 6UC Irvine 10, Pomona-Pitzer 1IRVINE — The No. 4-ranked Anteaters dropped a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game to No. 9 San Jose State on Saturday, but rebounded for a 10-1 nonconference win over Pomona-Pitzer at UCI.

UC Irvine (16-8, 3-6 in conference) stayed close all game but never led against San Jose State (12-9, 5-4). Seniors Robyn Kaake and Jackie Prine each scored twice for the ‘Eaters, and junior Lauren Machanis made 11 saves.

Sophomore Gianna Rossi scored a team-high three goals later Saturday, as the ‘Eaters eased past Pomona-Pitzer (3-5).
