Police suspicious about man who talked to boy

An 11-year-old boy was playing in the frontyard of his home in the 1100 block of Bismark Way in Costa Mesa on Friday evening when a man between 20 and 30 years old asked the child to come with him, Police Lt. Dale Birney said.

The boy ran inside the home to tell his grandfather what happened.

When the two returned to the yard, they saw the man’s vehicle leaving the area.

“There was no physical contact, but it is kind of suspicious to us for a complete stranger to tell an 11-year-old, ‘Hey, come with me,’ ” Birney said.
