‘EATERS’ GORGEN LAUDED

UC Irvine sophomore Scott Gorgen whose eight shutout innings helped the Anteaters top host Cal State Fullerton in the opener of their Big West Conference baseball series Thursday night, has been named Big West Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week.

The right-hander struck out eight and scattered four hits agaist the Titans, who lost the series, two games to one.

He retired the side in order five times to improve to 6-1. He has a 2.44 ERA and has 46 strikeouts in 59 innings this season.

As a freshman, Gorgen blanked the Titans for 6 2/3 innings to pick up the victory.
