Newport Beach resident April Dawn Davis, a 1990 graduate of Corona del Mar High School, has received her doctorate of veterinary medicine at Colorado State University.

Davis was awarded research fellowships to study rabies and communicable diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta and New York, received her doctorate, and has accepted a position at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.


Olivia R. Fankuchen of Newport Beach earned honors for the winter term in her sophomore year at Philips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire.

Newport Beach resident Jene Meece raised $8,500 for Habitat for Humanity at a recent fundraiser at her home.

Meece spent two weeks with Habitat for Humanity last summer, building a home in the village of Barskoon, Kyrgyzstan, and the money raised at her dinner party will be used by Habitat for Humanity to build another home there this summer.
