A’s take care of the Dodgers

Following the lead of several baseball teams across America, the A’s showed up for their Majors Division game against the Dodgers wearing a commemorative No. 42 on their jerseys in honor of Jackie Robinson, then went out and scored a 10-1 victory at Ocean View Little League.

The A’s hit the Dodgers for three first-inning runs, the big blow a two-run home run by Grant Mayeaux.

Mayeaux also tripled later in the game. Kevin Engesser and Brandon Macedo each had two hits, and Max Gibbs and Jacob Baugh each singled.

Joseph Ratzlaff pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings and struck out eight while giving up just one hit. The Dodgers scored an unearned run on his replacement, Gibbs, who allowed two hits and struck out three. Tyler Hammock pitched the final inning and struck out the side.

Getting hits for the Dodgers were Dallas Broge who doubled with an RBI, and Arnold Zinovyer and Andrew Arledge singled.

Minor A Division

Twins 12, Mets 2

The Twins ran their win streak to four with an impressive win over the Mets.

Among several big performances for the Twins, Stuart Morton hit two home runs and drove in three runs; Daniel Amaral, Jack Shearer and Micah Bartle each singled twice; Tyler Somerville singled; and Gavin Springer, Ben Roth and Alec Barbisan scored runs.

Morton began on the mound and limited the Mets to a single run while striking out nine in four innings. Relievers Shearer and Ben Vaught closed strong to complete the victory.

Minor B Division

Orioles 16, Twins 2

Jake Cramer hit his first home run of the season and Nick Pratto registered his third as the Orioles downed the Twins.

Hagen Danner drove in four runs, Noah Willis brought home two others and Michael Primich scored twice for the Orioles.

Anthony Martinez had two singles and also had a strong game defensively for the Twins.

Orioles 15, A’s 1

The Orioles again used the long ball to record another easy win.

Nick Pratto hit a grand slam en route to a six-RBI performance, Hagen Danner hit his sixth homer of the season and finished with four RBI and Sebastian Vercoe, Noah Willis and Maverick Knight each scored twice.

Sean Karol had two hits and pitched three solid innings for the A’s.

At Seaview Little League

Minor A Division

Red Sox, 20, Cubs 9

Every Red Sox player recorded a hit and scored at least a run in the win over the Cubs.

Drew Silva, Zack Wakefield and Shad Harris pitched for the Red Sox and Brandon Hirezi, Tyler Power, Dane Collero and Colin Douglass split mound time for the Cubs.

At Huntington Valley Little League

Majors

Dodgers 9, Orioles 0

Don Pierce pitched a complete game, throwing a three-hit, six-inning shutout to power the Dodgers.

Getting hits for the Orioles were Derek Quinn with a double, and Andrew Bogard and Steven Wright both singled.

In the Dodgers’ hitting department, Megan Feuerstein doubled, Jaycen Watson doubled and had three RBI, Don Pierce and Matthew Levinson each doubled and drove in two runs and Kyle Crossen doubled with an RBI.

Minor A Division

Rangers 20, Pirates 11

CJ Cortez, Tanner Watson and Noah Nelson hit home runs as the Rangers outscored the Pirates.

Daylan Harmeyer and Tanner Watson split time on the mound for the Rangers.

Other key contributions came from The entire Rangers defense was instrumental in keeping the Pirates at bay including Kobie Anton, Ryan Nickerson, Adam McBeth, Alex Petroff, Zak Barber, Jacob Smith, Frankie Hoshijima and Michael Boyack.
