Orange Coast League championships

COSTA MESA — Estancia’s Drew Bertoni shot one-under-par 69 to take the lead on the first day of the two-day Orange Coast League championships at Costa Mesa Golf and Country Club’s Mesa Linda course Monday.

Play will resume today at El Prado Chino Creek Golf Course in Chino at noon, with Estancia having three other golfers, Ryan Knapp (71), Andrew Ayala (74) and Storm Hagan (76), qualify for the second round.

Twelve golfers advanced to the second day.

The top three individual finishers will move on to the CIF tournament at SeaCliff Country Club in Huntington Beach.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Corona del Mar 13, Tesoro 6

SANTA ANA — Junior twins Alex and Addison Hoover scored four and three goals, respectively, in the quarterfinal of the Orange County Lacrosse Assn. playoffs Saturday at Foothill High.

Emma and Amme Nylander, anther set of CdM twins, scored two goals apiece, while Hilary Bush and Tess Crane rounded out the scoring for the winners.

CdM (9-7) meets Foothill in a semifinal today.

The site and time of the game had yet to be determined Monday.

SOFTBALL

Sage Hill 22, St. Margaret’s 6

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Hana Hunt went four for four with three RBIs for the Lightning in an Academy League game shortened to five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule Friday.

Lily Bush went three for five with two RBIs for Sage Hill (4-9, 3-2 in league).

Neale went the distance, allowing just two hits, to earn her fourth victory of the season. She also had a triple, one of Sage Hill’s seven extra-base hits in a 16-hit attack.

That attack also included a home run by Sadie Hoeschen.

Sage plays today at 3:15 p.m. at Capistrano Valley Christian.
