CdM’s Mikulak a star again in regional event

Corona del Mar High freshman Sam Mikulak won the all-around competition with a score of 56.725 at the USA Gymnastics Men’s Region 1 Championships in Honolulu, Hi. on April 13, repeating as Level 9 champion.

Mikulak also placed first on all the events in the all-around competition, except a fourth-place finish on pommel horse. He went on to the event finals and placed first in pommel horse (9.65), rings (9.325), vault (9.75) and high bar (9.60), taking fourth on floor exercise and parallel bars. He now travels to Oklahoma City for the Junior Olympic National Championships, which begin May 9. Last year, he placed second all-around and first in the floor exercise.
