Young Americans top Renegades

With three players scoring multiple goals and an early scoring blitz resulting in a comfortable lead, the Young Americans skated past the Renegades, 9-3, in Smythe Division play at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

Austin Mellema led the scoring with three goals followed by Andrew Schenker and Jonah Perez who had two goals apiece. Savannah Patton and Cannon Kunichika each scored once.

Schenker, Patton, Kunichika, Mellema, Tyler Wilford and Nathan May all had assists.

Ethan Higbee recorded 19 saves.

Stuart Urbano scored twice to lead the Renegades on offense. Brandon Foster also scored and Kian Nafison and Karson Derego each had an assist.

Sam Prizler had 22 saves.

In other Smythe Division action:

Bruins 7, Diablos 6

Christopher Beatty scored in an overtime shootout to lift the Bruins past the Diablos.

Savannah Patton scored three goals and had an assist to lead the Bruins offense. Matthew Chism scored twice and Hector Tepayotl had a goal and an assist.

Austin Koss’ three goals and assist topped the Diablos offense. Corey Childers scored twice, Alec Dahl scored once with an assist and Paul Wirth had three assists.

Blake Walker recorded 18 saves.

Renegades 8, Terminators 2

After having suffered consecutive defeats, the Renegades took a 7-0 lead and went on to roll past the Terminators.

Seven Renegades broke into the scoring column with Tyler Wilford and Brandon Foster heading the scoring with two goals and an assist each.

Karson Derego had a goal and pair of assists and Stuart Urbano and Chandler Clark also scored.

Sam Prizler had 19 saves.

Derin Ozturk and Tyler Gealy scored goals and Craig Wellander had 19 saves for the Terminators.

Terminators 7, Bruins 0

The Terminators skated to a 3-0 first-period lead and went on to blank the Bruins.

Keane Wong’s two goals led a Terminators offense that also saw Kevin Ozeretny, Derin Ozturk, Tyler Gealy, David Wellander and Michael Kramer all score once, Ozturk get two assists and Wong, Ozeretny and Gealy each record an assist.

Craig Wellander had 27 saves.
