Corona del Mar (18-7) ends the league season at 8-4 and will hope Laguna Hills (7-3) will lose at least once next week in its two games against Irvine. That would give the Sea Kings a share of the PCL title.
The Hawks defeated Irvine, 13-5, March 30. Laguna Hills plays at the Vaqueros’ diamond Monday, then will play host to Irvine on Wednesday.
“I don’t think there’s a chance they drop two,” Corona del Mar Coach John Emme said.
Emme also said he was frustrated with the Sea Kings’ five errors and several unearned runs allowed by Corona del Mar. University scored an unearned run in the seventh to send the game into extra innings.
The Trojans, who had 19 hits, scored seven runs in the eighth.
The Sea Kings end the regular season with a game at Bellflower Monday at 3:15 p.m.
