BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:Lehr, Estancia big winners from Irrelevant contest

Lynn Lehr, a Newport Beach resident, and Estancia High will perhaps thank Ramzee Robinson when he comes for Mr. Irrelevant Week June 18-24.

That’s because Lehr and the Eagles benefited from the Mr. Irrelevant contest that had readers guess the final pick of the NFL Draft. Along with their selection, contestants were asked to pick the high school they wanted to have money donated to.

After over 800 entries, Estancia will receive a $1000 check from the Daily Pilot. Estancia had 557 supporters, 405 more than second-place Corona del Mar. Newport Harbor had 69 and Costa Mesa 11.

Lehr won $500. She did her best to pick Robinson, but she was 11 picks off with her guess of Jason Snelling, a fullback out of Virginia, who went to the Atlanta Falcons. Lehr tied with two others with that pick and won a coin toss over Rick Nicholson and Brian Chedwick.
