Sage Hill, San Gabriel battle in second round

One more win and the Sage Hill School boys’ tennis team will be back to its unwanted destination for the fifth straight year.

For the past four seasons, the Lightning have ended their season in the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section playoffs. This year, to get that chance to break that annoying trend, Sage Hill will need to get past San Gabriel, which visits the Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club, for a Division IV second-round match today at 3 p.m.

Martin Park, who swept at No. 1 singles in the Lightning’s 16-2 win over Linfield Christian Thursday, leads Sage Hill, which won the coin toss to earn the right to host the second-round contest.
