EVENING OF THE ARTS

Newport Harbor High School, 600 Irvine Ave., will host its Evening of the Arts program from 6 to 9 p.m., featuring the school’s visual, performing and culinary arts departments. Student’s drawings, paintings, digital art and photography will be on display, and the jazz band, choir, dance team and drama students will perform. The school’s award-winning culinary students will prepare ethnic and gourmet food items, including dessert, which may be purchased for $2 to $3 per item. Admission is free. Call (949) 515-6320.

SATURDAYMERCE CUNNINGHAM DANCE EVENT

The Merce Cunningham Dance Company will present a program beginning at 7 p.m. that will take place in three different venues at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa. Beginning in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, the company will perform “Event,” a collage of various dances. Following intermission, guests will walk to Segerstrom Hall for Cunningham’s newest work, “eyeSpace.” The film, “Beach Birds for Cameras,” will also be shown on the wall of Segerstrom Hall. DODGE BALL TOURNAMENT

Teams are forming for Peninsula Pride clothing company’s “Dodge Ball on the Beach 3”, a 16-team dodge ball tournament that will take place from 11:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 14th and Balboa Blvd., Newport Beach. The UCI Arboretum’s annual Spring Perennial Sale will take place on the UC Irvine North Campus, located just south of Campus Drive and Jamboree Road. Shade plants, plants that attract hummingbirds and butterflies, and a rare bulb collection, will be on display in the Arboretum’s perennial garden and available for purchase.
