A’s 1, Twins 0A classic pitchers duel favored the A’s who scored the game’s only run on a throwing error in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Twins pitchers Casey Hayes, Noah Jackson and Drew Stanfield combined to throw a no-hitter at the A’s.

A’s pitchers Grant Mayeaux and Max Gibbs also were outstanding as they struck out 12 and allowed two hits and a walk.

A walk, stolen base and two errors were the Twins’ undoing in the fifth. Mayeaux reached base on a walk and promptly stole second base. The throw from the plate to second base on the play got past the infield and rolled into centerfield. As Mayeaux raced to third base, the throw to third skipped into the dugout and Mayeaux was awarded home.

A’s 3, Mets 2The A’s hung on for the win after the Mets stranded the tying run at second base in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Kevin Engesser doubled among two hits, Max Gibbs and Robert Cornwell each had a single and RBI, Grant Mayeaux tripled and Joseph Ratzlaff singled for the A’s.

Gibbs pitched three innings and allowed one run with five strikeouts. Mayeaux threw the final three innings and gave up the other run while striking out seven. Billy Fay doubled twice with an RBI and Jonah Desjardin singled for the Mets.
