A 10-and-under Newport Beach water polo team made up of boys and girls went undefeated to win the San Diego Cup at The Bishop’s School in La Jolla on May 5.

In the championship game against Commerce, Newport Beach trailed for the first time in the tournament. But Newport, coached by Drew Kaford, battled back to win, 11-8, and record its fifth victory of the prestigious tournament.

Newport Beach goalie Carlee Kapana was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament for the 10-and-under, co-ed division that required a minimum of three girls playing at all times.
