Early lead propels Slashers
The Slashers took a two-goal lead on the Falcons after one period of play in their Norris Division match Wednesday and that margin proved to be the difference in a 6-4 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.
Four Slashers scored goals, led by two goals each from Alexander Gomez and Tanner Osterkamp. Single goals were scored by Markus Boyer and Kaden Bruner.
Gomez, Bruner, Ryan Osterkamp and Derrek Chang all has assists.
Tanner Chang recorded 22 saves.
Aigne McGeady-Bruce scored twice and had an assist to lead the Falcons offense. Aaron Maccabi scored twice, Jorden Wozniak had an assist and Thomas Wirth had 17 saves.
Norris Division action:
Hot Shotz 3, SWAT 2
Casey Brecher scored the first and last goals for SWAT but they weren’t enough to overcome the Hot Shotz.
His first goal, off an assist from Braeden Stack, gave SWAT a 1-0 lead in the first period. But consecutive goals by Ryan Sprague, Alexander Taros and Brayden Moore — with two of those goals coming on assists from Alec Lang — over the next 1 1/2 periods, gave the Hot Shotz the lead for good.
Brecher scored off a feed from Trenton Shehan.
Breakers 5, Kings 4
The Breakers scored three second-period goals and shut out the Kings in the process, to overcome a 1-0 deficit to get the victory.
Lightning 4, Stars 2
The Lightning outscored the Stars, 3-0 in the final period, to pull out the win.
