NAIA ChampionshipsFRESNO — Vanguard University’s Grace Jepngetich finished second in the women’s 10,000 meters to collect All-American honors in 36 minutes, 27.46 seconds, a personal record, at Fresno Pacific University.

Jason Valenzuela finished 14th in the men’s 10,000 in 32:55.51.

WOMEN’S GOLF

NCAA ChampionshipDaytona Beach, Fla. — The UC Irvine women’s golf team sits in 20th place heading into the final round of the NCAA Championship at the LPGA International Golf Course.

The Anteaters scored 316 falling to 20th place with a 54-hole total of 933.

Top-ranked Duke continues to lead the field with a 16-over-par 880.

Individually, Selanee Henderson is 18th with nine-over 225 (69-80-76). Patty Chawalitmetha is 78th after carding a 235 (76-79-80), Kim Lorenzana is 87th with a score of 237 (79-77-81), Jane Chin is 100th at 240 (83-78-79) and Henna Cho is 119th with a three-day total of 249 (79-84-86).

The championship concludes today with 18 holes.

WOMEN’S SAILING

National ChampionshipNORFOLK, Va. — The UC Irvine women’s sailing team is in fifth place after the second day of competition Thursday in the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) National Championship at Norfolk, Va.

Saint Mary’s leads the 18-school field with 123 points. UCI has 177 for fifth place.

The Anteaters’ Whitney Loufek and Megan Pluth are second overall in Division “A” with 73 points through 14 races. The UCI duo won two of the eight races.
