NCAA West RegionalEUGENE, Ore. — UC Irvine junior Julian Eison finished fifth in the high jump Saturday to earn an automatic berth in the NCAA Championships at Sacramento June 6-9.

The top five in each event at the regional qualify for the national meet. Eison cleared 6 feet, 11 inches. Cal’s Ed Wright won the high jump at 7-3 1/4 and UCI’s Jon Wratten was 11th at 6-9.

UCI senior Ricky Barnes finished sixth in the 1,500 meters in 3 minues, 46.71 seconds and has a strong chance of an at-large berth in the nationals, according to UCI Coach Vince O’Boyle.
