Boating store to donate part of sales to Hoag Cup

The West Marine boating store, 377 E. Coast Highway, Newport Beach, plans to donate 5% of its sales on Thursday to the First Team Real Estate Invitational Regatta for the Hoag Cup as a way to show support for the hospital and boating community.

Manager Tom Clark said he was happy the Watsonville-based company decided to support Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian because of the institution’s importance in Newport-Mesa.

“We survive on the community — the Newport boating community is who keeps us in business … and I look at this as community healthy,” Clark said. “A lot of our boating community are patrons of the hospital and patients at the hospital.”

Clark pointed out the fundraiser benefits Hoag and West Marine since the company helps the hospital while promoting sales at the store.

The regatta is from June 8 through June 10 in the harbor. West Marine will donate the portion of sales from both its Newport Beach locations at 377 E. Coast Highway and at 900 W. Coast Highway.
