Tolfa earns top honor in Pacific Coast League

Corona del Mar High senior Michelle Tolfa was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Year by league coaches.

Tolfa, who’s bound for Princeton, helped CdM (13-14, 7-5 in league) reach the playoffs for the fourth straight year. The four-year varsity pitcher went 11-12 with two saves, 187 strikeouts and a 1.26 earned-run average in 161 innings.

Making the second team were senior shortstop Allie Duernberger, sophomore first baseman Leslee Kaczmarek and sophomore catcher Katrina Gaar. Duernberger played solid defense and recorded 16 hits. Kaczmarek led the team with a .342 batting average, seven RBIs and three triples. Gaar ranked second at .337, five RBIs and one home run.
