Payroll Woman of the Year announced

The American Payroll Assn. recently named Sondra Dougherty of Costa Mesa Payroll Woman of the Year.

Dougherty was chosen out of more than 22,500 members in the professional association.

She is the director of support services for the Orange County Department of Education. She was honored in 2003 by the association with the Meritorious Service Award and a year later with a Special Recognition Award.

“Her dedication to volunteerism and the payroll industry is unsurpassed,” association executive director Dan Maddux said. “Dougherty is an inspiration to us all and she deserves recognition.”

Package offers banquet-to-go

The Cannery of Newport and Balboa Boat Rentals recently announced it has partnered to offer a Savor the Sea package.

The package allows boat renters to get food from the Cannery for a banquet-to-go. They can be created for groups up to 10 people and menu items can include seared ahi sashimi salad, baked brie salad, Brendon’s filet mignon and chocolate molten cake.

The menu starts at $15 and includes fruit and veggie platters, quesadillas and oysters.
