BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:Corona del Mar’s Milner to become a Buffalo

Corona del Mar High senior Jessica Milner has committed to play golf for the University of Colorado in Boulder.

Milner said she visited the Division I school in November, and took a recruiting trip for the golf team in February.

“I wanted to go somewhere different than California,” Milner said. “I wanted to go somewhere that had all four seasons, even though golf and snow don’t really go together.”

Milner was a first-team All-Pacific Coast League selection last fall for the Sea Kings, helping CdM girls’ golf to an 11-0 mark in league. The team captain also tallied a team-best round of 84 at the CIF Southern Section Southern Division team playoffs.

She said she plans to major in political science at Colorado.

The Buffaloes women’s golf team, coached by Anne Kelly, finished sixth at this year’s Big 12 Championships.
