Angels rally for victory

The Huntington Valley Angels spotted the Costa Mesa National Marlins a 2-0 lead in their District 62 Tournament of Champions Majors Division postseason opener Saturday, but rallied strong for a 10-3 victory at Robinwood Little League in Huntington Beach.

A two-run home run by Danny Cabrera in the second inning gave the Marlins a 2-0 lead, but the Angels forged a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the second. A two-RBI double by Allen Marquez was the big hit.

The Marlins gained a tie one final time when Jake Stone hit a solo homer in the top of the third.

Tyler Odey started a Halos rally in the bottom of the third that took them to a 5-3 lead, and then a five-run fifth, highlighted by David Clegg’s two-run home run, broke the game open.

Hits by Brodie Barton and David Mastro completed the scoring for Huntington Valley.

In Junior Division actionHuntington Valley No. 1 3, Seaview No. 2 2

David Stone’s hit scored Jake Provost in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Huntington Valley Giants slipped past Seaview No. 2 at Westminster Little League.

The Huntington Valley Yankees also won 10-1 as did the Minor A and Minor B teams.
