Eight people were arrested in Costa Mesa this week as part of a week-long enforcement action by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that ended today and saw 175 immigration violators arrested county-wide.

Of those arrested by immigration officers, 27 had past criminal records and 26 individuals allegedly ignored final orders of deportation issued by immigration judges.

The five-day effort is the largest single enforcement action conducted by ICE’s fugitive operations teams in Orange County, said Jim Hayes, ICE’s Los Angeles Field Office Director.

The majority of those arrested this week were Mexicans, though the group also included individuals from India, Kenya, the Philippines and Colombia. More than 100 have already been deported to their native countries.

Five ICE fugitive teams are dispersed throughout the Southland. The newest team was positioned in Orange County June 1.
