Jones Cup will donate to Halfacre’s favorite charity
This year’s Jones Cup golf tournament will honor Newport Beach businessman and philanthropist Marion Halfacre with a donation to his favorite charity, event sponsor Fletcher Jones Motorcars has announced.
The dealership has committed to a minimum $5,000 donation to the Cystinosis Research Foundation, which was founded by Jeff and Nancy Stack of Corona del Mar in hopes of finding a cure for the metabolic disease that afflicts their daughter Natalie.
“We wanted to do something that would serve as a legacy to Marion and everything he’s done,” said general manager Garth Blumenthal. The foundation has been overwhelmed with donations since Halfacre died of a heart condition on June 9. His family requested that contributions be made in lieu of flowers.
The Jones Cup is set for Sept. 6.
