Police seek suspect in child annoyance cases
Newport Beach police are looking for a man suspected of annoying children two different times recently in the Harbor Ridge community.
On Tuesday, a 7-year-old girl was walking on Port Sheffield Place when a man in a white pickup truck with a utility rack and gardening equipment in back drove up and called out to her, police said. The girl ran away without further incident.
Then, on Thursday, a 10-year-old boy was walking on Port Seaborne Way near Anderson Elementary School when a man drove up in such a truck and waved at him to come closer, police said. When the man slid into the passenger seat, he frightened the boy, who ran off.
Police do not have a detailed description of the man or a license plate number.
Anyone with information about the incidents, the vehicle or the subject is asked to call (949) 644-3776.
